VISUAL EFFECT
Garment-dyed colour with an acid-washed fade on top
INTENSITY RANGE
Light, medium or heavy, per wash standard
Benefits
A garment-dyed colour with an acid-wash fade on top, giving a vintage, high-contrast finish. Runs on knit as well as denim. Strength is set at Light, Medium or Heavy.
Limitations
Two processes in sequence, so lead time is longer than either alone. Wash strength and shade are approved together on the production quality.
Process
- Garment Preparation: Select the garments to be garment dyed and acid washed.
- Garment Dyeing: Dye the garments by standard garment dyeing, covering the fabric fully in the target colour.
- Chemical Preparation: Let the dyed garments dry completely. Prepare the acid wash solution from its chemical mix, with abrasives such as pumice stones if needed.
- Acid Wash: Immerse the garments in the solution and agitate for an even treatment. Distress specific areas more for extra intensity.
- Rinsing & Neutralisation: Rinse thoroughly to remove excess chemicals. Then neutralise the garments in a neutralising solution.
- Washing & Finishing: Wash separately in cold water with mild detergent to remove loose dye and residual chemicals. Apply softeners or other finishing agents if needed.
