Dye

DYE-1014

Reactive Dye

Reactive dye chemically bonds with natural fabric fibres like cotton, resulting in vibrant, long-lasting colours. It contains a chromophore and a reactive group that covalently binds to the fabric for excellent colourfastness.

Benefits

Reactive dye bonds chemically with cotton and other cellulose fibres, giving bright, deep shades with strong wash fastness. The standard route for solid colour on cotton knit.

Limitations

Colour fixation depends on precise conditions, so the process is run to a controlled recipe rather than adjusted mid-run. Recipes are approved per shade before bulk.

Process
  • Fabric Preparation: Start with clean fabric in a suitable fibre such as cotton, rayon, viscose or cotton/poly (70/30). Pre-wash and dampen it so it is wet but not dripping.
  • Dye Preparation: Dissolve the reactive dye powder in warm water and mix evenly, following the instructions.
  • Dyeing: Immerse the fabric, or apply the dye by another method for the intended design, until it is evenly saturated.
  • Fixation & Rinsing: Add the fixing agent to increase colourfastness to washing. Then rinse thoroughly in cold water to remove excess fixative and loose dye.
  • Washing: Wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent.
