SPR-1002

Spray Dye

Spray dye, also called fabric spray paint or fabric dye spray, offers a convenient method for adding colour to fabric surfaces without the need for immersion or traditional dyeing techniques. These dyes are designed specifically for fabric and typically contain a blend of dyes, pigments, solvents, and binders that adhere to fabric fibres.

Specifications

CATEGORY

VISUAL EFFECT

Speckled or gradient sprayed colour

INTENSITY RANGE

Localised/graduated

Benefits

Dye sprayed directly onto the garment gives speckled or gradient colour with control over placement. Quick to apply and quick to dry.

Limitations

Fabric response varies, so the base cloth is confirmed before bulk. Colour softens with repeated wash, which suits a garment intended to age.

Process
  • Workspace Setup: Work in a well-ventilated area and cover the workspace. Gather the spray dye, fabric, protective gear and any design tools.
  • Sample Test: Shake the dye bottles well, and test on scrap fabric to check the colour intensity and spray pattern.
  • Spray Application: Plan the design and put on protective gear. Hold the bottle 6–10 inches from the fabric and apply the dye evenly, following the design.
  • Fixation & Rinsing: Let the fabric dry and fix the dye as the manufacturer instructs. Rinse until the water runs clear, and wash as recommended.
  • Finishing & Quality Check: After washing and drying, inspect the fabric and add detail if needed. Clean the nozzle after use.
